Antique Golf Club, Urquhart Adjustable
Antique Golf Club, Urquhart Adjustable
Antique Patent Adjustable Iron Golf Club by Urquhart.
A Urquhart adjustable golf club with hickory shaft in good condition by Robert Urquhart. The back of the toe shows the trademark "U" inside a circle and the production No. 1445, the same number is on the back of the hosel and Urquharts patent. The club had an adjustable blade which could be modified to allow for any loft, meaning it was the only club a golfer needed to carry and this is probably the best design of an adjustable club. This club is quite simple to use, just push in the lever on the hosel, pull out the spring loaded blade and rotate to the desired position, fit back into place. At some time a limited company was formed, Urquhart's Patents Limited, in Edinburgh, 5 St Andrew Square in the New Town. The Urquhart mark was used from 1892 to 1906.
This is a fine collectable and very collectable.
