Antique Longbow By Feltham, London 1880
Antique Longbow By Feltham, London 1880
An Antique English Longbow by Feltham, London.
A fine 76½-inch English longbow by the respected London bowyer Feltham, stamped "Feltham London" together with "48", indicating a 48 lb draw weight. Dating to around 1880, the bow is crafted from Lancewood, admired for its strength, resilience, and smooth, even grain. The bow retains an attractive, gently aged patina, with the maker's marks remaining clear and well defined. The grip is finished in green velvet, softly worn with age, lending the bow a distinctive and elegant period character. Both ends are fitted with traditional horn nocks, neatly shaped and in keeping with Feltham's established workmanship.
A well-proportioned Victorian longbow from a notable London maker, combining a desirable length, practical pull weight, and the appealing detail of its green velvet grip-an excellent piece for collectors of traditional archery and sporting antiques.
