The "Perfection" 9ft Hardy Palakona Fishing Rod.
A beautifully 2 piece 9' split cane fly fishing rod by Hardy of Alnwick. The rod is in very good condition with the registration number H63763, dating it to 1970's. It has the inscription spiralling around the rod, 'The "Perfection" Palakona Regd Trade Mark, #5'. The rod is a 2 piece rod with blue hardy canvas bag, bronze ferrules, suction joints, cork handle with alloy screw reel fitting. Hardy were the first manufacturer to make split cane rods in hexagonal form as The Hardy 'Palakona' rod.
Measurements of the four pieces, handle 1m 40cm - 2nd piece 1m 37cm.
Showing is also a Hardy's Anglers' Guides 1937 catalogue entry for the rod.
The rod has been designed to deal with the large Steel-head trout caught in the Rogue River. It is capable of casting a long line, mastering heavy, hard fighting fish, and is wonderfully light to fish with.
