Bussey Tennis Racket, The Tournament
Bussey Tennis Racket, The Tournament
The Tournament, Lawn Tennis Racket By George Gibson Bussey.
A wooden lawn tennis racket by Bussey 'The Tournament 2'. A nice ash framed racket with convex wedge and cut down handle. It looks like this may have been a ball tail racket at one time. The wedge is embossed 'The Tournament 2' with the Bussey logo 'GEO.G.BUSSEY&Co.' at the top of the handle. The racket has a ash frame (very slightly warped) with red and white gut stringing with three rows of black trebling to the top and bottom. Scratch into the wedge 'J.Flint', most probably the culprit who cut off the ball tail!
George Bussey was a large London manufacturer of high quality equipment for sports and games.
