A rare set of sixteen first edition books in a series on a wide variety of British sports, their history and personalities of the time. The original bevelled hard bound morocco leather covering has gilt lettering and tooling, the spine with five raised bands and title. The front of the books with crest comprising of a knight's helmet, shield, mermaid and the motto 'DE VITA VIS' (LIFE FORCE), red marbled papers front and back with informative text and numerous photogravure prints and photographic illustrations. Limited edition of 1000 copies, of which these are numbered 343.
