Hardy Palakona No.1 L.R.H Spinning Rod
Hardy 'L.R.H. Spinning Rod'.
A very good double-handed Hardy No.1 L.R.H Palakona split cane spinning rod by Hardy Bros. of Alnwick. This is a good 9ft 6 inches long 2 piece rod with clear agate line guides. The rod is in good condition with a registration number E59260 dating the rod to 1946. It comes with canvas bag which is not original. The Palakona rod has the alloy screw reel fitting bearing Hardy's logo and two different Royal appointment seals, one being the Prince of Wales plume of three feathers. It has a smooth 29" cork handle with a 'L.R.H.' special shaped rubber button, has a 'Stud' lockjoint with wooden and cork stopper and green silk intermediate whippings. The rod has the painted black inscription spiralling around the shaft 'The No.1 L.R.H. Spinning "Palakona" 'Regd. Trade Mark'.
Palakona is the trade name given by Hardy's to their best quality, the tonkin bamboo rods.
One of the images is a copy showing the entry for the rod in a Hardy's Anglers' Guide & Catalogue.
